Butter

We made butter! I didn't realize how easy it is to make. A friend of mine gave us the "recipe" and on Saturday we tried it out. On the left is the buttermilk, which we used the next morning to make buttermilk pancakes. On the right is our ball of butter. Yum!
By the way...I shouldn't say "we" made butter. Josh actually did it. But I was there, holding Vivian and watching. :)

Static Hair

Josh and Shelby had too much fun yesterday morning...

Vivian's two months old!

Time is flying by and our sweet girl is two months old. Vivian has been doing GREAT at sleeping at night! And she is getting so much better at taking good naps without being held. Vivian continues to be very sweet and she is talking (cooing) more and more. We love her smiles!

Here she is at two months old

We will take her for her appointment in two weeks ~ I am excited to hear about big she is and how much she weighs. Shelby loves her a lot and is such a great big sister. We are enjoying our family of four.

Silly Sleeper

Like most babies, Vivian likes to sleep in weird positions sometimes. Today she took a nap on me with her face buried in my arm for the majority of the time.
Our girls are so sweet and I have really enjoyed today with them! We are all excited for Daddy to be home, however. Shelby's first words to me this morning were "Is Daddy still in California?" It sure is precious to hear and see how much she loves her wonderful Daddy!

Stayin' Alive!

We actually have been more than staying alive! God is so good! We are all clean, fed, well rested, and having fun! We sure do miss Daddy, but we are doing well. Thanks for your prayers! Two more days to go...

Video phone

Shelby was talking with Grandma this morning and as usual she talks about whatever she sees in the room she is in. Well, today she thought she'd show Grandma her kitchen set, which is outside. Shelby went to the window, got up on her white stool and held the phone up to the window while telling Grandma, "See, there it is!" I was able to snap a quick picture while she was showing the kitchen set. Apparently she thinks you can see if you can hear. Josh and I were cracking up.
A few other notes...
We have added some more pictures to Vivian's web album, so feel free to check it out. I must admit, we haven't taken nearly as many pictures as we did with Shelby. Sorry Vivian! We do love you just as much!
Josh leaves tomorrow for CA for five days for work. Not sure what we are going to do without him! Anyone want to come stay with me and help me out? My mom already said she can't. :( We thought about me and the girls going to Dallas, but it would be a bit crazy. So, we'll be here in Sanderson. I do plan on getting together with several friends while he is gone. Pray for us! Especially for me...pray I don't loose it and I get enough seep. (Griffins tend to require a lot of sleep.) :)

Napping

At what point do newborns adopt a schedule? My goal is to have our girls napping at the same time...so I can nap, too! Lately Vivian sleeps until just before Shelby's nap, then wakes up and is up for ~2 hours, then falls asleep just after Shelby's nap. Again at bedtime, Vivian sleeps until just before Shelby gets in bed and then is up for a while before going down for the night. At least Vivian sleeps late in the morning at this point so that I am up with Shelby and Josh can sleep in a bit. It is nice having Josh on the evening shift because we get to see him for a good part of the day, but he doesn't get as much sleep.

I know, I know...I should take that time of opposite napping to spend special time with the sweet girl who is awake. :)

This is Vivian napping just before I put Shelby to bed on Sunday night.

The other night Shelby held Vivian so that I could go warm up my dinner and eat. It was so precious! Shelby did very well and actually held Vivian for about 5 minutes. I couldn't believe it!
Here they are, our sweet girls:

And I am sure I will get sleep at some point. Vivian has slept a 6-hour stretch (the night before last) and a 5-hour stretch (last night) - wonderful!
