Enjoying some M&M's

We don't give Shelby candy very often, but our neighbor across the street, Art, gave Shelby some M&M's. After dinner she enjoyed them, one by one.

1 year

This time one year ago we were traveling with two trucks, one Reach trailer, one car and 5 people from Greeley, Colorado to Sanderson, Texas.

Now here we are, one year later and it has gone by pretty fast.

We are thankful for so many things over the past year of being here in Sanderson:
-a new place to live in
-a great job for Josh
-Sharon able to stay home with Shelby
-a sweet girl
-family that came to visit throughout the past year
-new friends
-someone who is renting our condo in Colorado!
-another niece ~ Hadessah
-trips to Dallas to see the Bonus family
-trips to Colorado and Nebraska to see family

We are looking forward to the possibility of moving to a bigger house here in Sanderson this year. Josh will hit his 2 year mark in September and we are excited for that as well. We have a trip planned for Colorado and for Minnesota that we are very much looking forward to!

Sweet girl

As I was putting Shelby to bed this evening I thought back over today and I just wanted to share that we have such a sweet girl. A friend of ours has said many times that "this is my favorite age!" Well, I am not sure yet if it is my very favorite or not, but I do like it a lot. Shelby is (almost) constantly talking to us and some things we can understand. :) She is doing well repeating words that we ask her to say. One of the many cute things she does is when we ask her how old she is she holds up one finger and says "Two." Every time she counts she starts with two...I guess that "one" is hard to say for her?

We took her in for her 18 month check-up (1/18/11) finally and got a good report. We found a very nice doctor (Dr. Ranga), a female pediatrician, in Odessa. Shelby weighs 25 pounds (50th-75th percentile) and she is 33 inches (75th percentile). She didn't care for the doctor's office too much, especially the three shots. But she was happy when we left and was a good girl the rest of the day. She won't need shots again until she is 4 years old, so it will be a while before we visit the doctor again.

Goodnight to all!

The Fair

Today was the Terrell County Fair and Shelby loved it! This morning they had all of the judging for the rabbits, turkeys, lambs, goats, steers and horses (others, too, I am sure). We made it over in time for Shelby to see lots of animals. Shelby loves the Jahn's ~ Thank You guys for showing Shelby all around today!

Shelby and Katy checking out the turkeys

Grace showing Shelby the lambs and the judging

There was lots to see, so it was hard to get a picture of this stinker

Mr. Shane and Katy showing Shelby their rabbit, named Peter. :) The rabbits were Shelby's favorite animal. She kept going back to them no matter where I would take her. Who wouldn't love the rabbits - small, soft, non-scary looking little guys.

Shelby, Corrine and Evan playing while the steers and horses were judged. Shelby and Evan ran up and down the ramp they are on in this picture many, many times. And Shelby thought she was such a big girl standing on the bottom rail and holding onto the top rail while sticking her head through it.

A six-year-old boy won 1st place showing his grandpa's horse. It was the cutest thing to see this little boy leading a huge horse around. We also had fun with Luke and Doug who are both almost 2 years old. It was a good turn-out for our little town and county.

We ate lunch there as well and it was delicious!! Brisket, sausage, beans, mac'n'cheese...YUM! I could go for another plate of that!

Now Shelby is conked out for a nap and I am making food for tomorrow's potluck at church. Have a great weekend y'all!

She's climbing

Here is what we have been doing all night...

Josh hung some pictures and while he was hanging them Shelby tried climbing this little ladder. She has been climbing up for almost an hour now. :) She won't climb back down by herself yet, but she really likes to jump off. She now drags the ladder around the house and climbs up to get things, like pens and highlighters. Josh tried putting the ladder back, but she insisted on continuing her climbs. Hopefully this will wear her out and she'll sleep great tonight!
