Vivian is four months old!

We are very excited that our sweet baby girl is four months old today! Vivian is a precious girl and we all enjoy her very much. It is fun to make her laugh, as Shelby loves to laugh with her. Vivian is doing great at trying to sit up. She holds her head up well and always wants to see what is going on. She is doing great at tummy time! She continues to eat well, although she eats more at night than during the day. :( Not sure how to switch those around...hoping it is just a phase!

Here is Vivian at 4 months old. (She has on the same outfit as Shelby did at 4 months, just for fun. However Vivian wore a bib all day to catch her crazy drool!)

And here are the girls playing. Shelby wanted a bib, like Vivian. :) She actually wanted to take it off before I took the picture, but I had her leave it on. She is such a good big sister and a sweetheart!

We are struggling with bedtime for Shelby. Could it be time to give up her afternoon nap? Yikes! I hope not, but I have a feeling that might be the answer. I think we'll test it out for a week and see what happens. My guess is that it will work...and we'll have a very tired mommy. :(

AND...Congratulations to our friends!!! Danielle Baethge found out they are having a girl! They have three boys and now they will have a sweet girl! She is 1/2 way there and we are very excited for them! Thank you, Jesus!

Two great things today...

#1: Zoey had a baby boy today!!!
#2: Today is her due date!

We are excited to tell you all that Zadok Russel Griffin was born today, 3/25/12, at 7:47 AM. He weighs 7lbs 5oz and is 20 inches long. My mom says he has quite a bit of dark hair and Rizpah's coloring. No pictures yet. Zoey and Zadok are doing great. Everyone is excited for a boy! And I always think it is neat when women have their babies on their due date. :)

New Griffin grandchild count:
Girls: 9
Boys: 3 (Kelly due with David in July)

March 23rd - first sun of the year

Upon preparing a card for Keziah for her 5th birthday (Happy 5th Birthday, Keziah!!! ... on the 29th) Shelby got out the gum and said, "Don't forget the gum!" I love that Shelby thinks to put gum in a card! She has learned that well. Haha

Today we played outside with the Baethge family for a while and Shelby got her first "sun" of the year. Here arms are red, but nothing like her first sunburn which was March 17, 2010!
With bright sunshine and our high today being almost 90 degrees I must say: Bring on the sunscreen!

Time marches on

My Grandma Griffin did pass away on March 7th. The whole Griffin clan was able to be there for the funeral, except me. I was so glad that they were all together. Grandma Griffin had been suffering for a while, so we are all glad that she is whole and new in Heaven with Jesus, our Lord and Savior! Praise God for his kindness in calling her home.

We are doing well down here in Sanderson. Thankful for the cooler evenings and nights (60's) since the days are already around the 80's. Shelby loves being outside still. Josh has been working in the shop and Shelby is almost always out there with him.

Vivian is our (occasional) thumb-sucker. It is so cute!!! Today she had her left hand turned around backward with her pinky in her mouth.

Vivian is doing really well sitting up (with the boppy or the bumbo). She is interested in toys and grabs at them with accuracy. Today she sucked and chewed on this little pigs ear until it was sopping wet.

Also today, Vivian was on her back and sort of rolled over as she tucked her legs in. Yes, she is at an angle and I am not claiming it as a true roll over...just sayin' she is getting close.

March is passing us quickly! Easter will be here before we know it! And...that means Zoey will be having her baby soon. I am so excited to see what they are having! After four girls (Aislyn, Keziah, Rizpah and Hadessah) we are hoping for a boy! We love you, Russel Griffin family!

Grandma Griffin

We have received word that my Grandma Griffin (pictured below with my Aunt Barbara) is going down hill fast, after breaking her leg earlier this week. She has been battling Alzheimer's for several years. Please be in prayer for my family as they gather together to be with her these last few days. My Dad and Mom are in Montana now. Uncle Jerry and Aunt Nancy should be there soon. Aunt Patsy and Aunt Barbara live there; all four children will be there together with her. Praying she will no longer be in pain and she will rejoice in being with Jesus! Grandpa Griffin is already there and it will be a joyous reunion.
This picture was taken at our wedding, 10/10/03.
We love you Grandma!

Ahhhh, Colorado

...how we love thee! Even if we never live there again, it will always be one of our favorite places. :) We spent 10 days in the beloved state of Colorado at the end of February, visiting family and friends. Here are a few highlights:

Josh was able to go snowmobiling with several other guys one day. They had a BLAST! And they were very sore. Lots of digging each other out of the powder. So much fun!

The girls and I, on the other hand, didn't get to experience the snow. It never snowed in Eaton while we were there. I was pretty bummed, but there is always next year. We had a bit of a crazy trip as Vivian, Shelby and I all got sick. The final blow was an ear infection for Shelby the night we were supposed to be driving back. We stayed an extra 12 hours to see a doctor and get her some medication - soooo glad we did! And boy was it nice to live in a place where doctors and pharmacies are minutes away. :)
Shelby in her new tutu playing the piano. I am pretty sure she wore the tutu every day.

The Renfroe's youngest daughter is named Vivian, so naturally she was very excited about meeting our Vivian. Pam and Vivian came over after school one day to play with Shelby and hold Vivian. It was fun!

On short notice the adults decided to go to dinner Saturday night (My Dad and Mom, Josh and I, Russel and Zoey, Jesse and Kelly). It was determined that we could enjoy some conversation best without the kiddos. Aislyn and Clarissa watched the little girls and we had a fun night at the Armadillo with Uncle Jerry & Aunt Nancy and Josh & Melissa (my cousin).
From left to right: Clarissa (babysitter), Rizpah-3, Shelby-2.5, Aislyn-15, Keziah-almost 5, Hadessah-1.5, Anna-2.

We are thrilled that Jesse and Kelly are expecting a BOY in July. It will be so nice to have another nephew in the family, David Isaac Griffin. Nathan is thrilled, I am sure, even though David will be 8 years younger than him. (We missed the Bonus family on our trip!) Jesse & Kelly and Russel & Zoey ~ we had so much fun with you guys! Thanks for spending time with us.

Even though we were sick most of the time, we did have a good trip. Thank you to Grandma and Grandpa for a wonderful place to stay! Thank you for taking care of us while we were sick! Thank you for hosting our friends, planning a tea while I was there, taking Josh snowmobiling, great food and fun, etc! And a HUGE thank you for taking care of us while we were sick - especially Grandma taking care of Shelby. You guys are wonderful and we love you!

Spring has sprung ... catching up

The tree outside our front door is blooming! Can it be? Oh, yes, it can...it is warm down here; currently 80 degrees.

We enjoyed a nice walk this morning with Daddy. It was a bit windy, but still nice.

What have we been up to? Well, Grandma Mary came down to visit for a week in February. The girls had a great time playing with her. Since Grandma Mary wore her glasses to read her book, Shelby also wanted to wear her glasses (even though they are sun glasses) to read.
I went through some clothes for Vivian while Mary was here and we found this hat. Shelby had to try it on, of course. :) We thought she looked like a little Amish girl with the hat on, minus the awesome outfit she is wearing. Haha
The day after Mary left we headed to Colorado! This was our long-awaited trip that we had been planning - all to see some snow! See our next post for those results...
