A few pictures

Vivian had fun spinning in the chair. And Shelby loved spinning Vivian and her baby doll.

Shelby was outside today watching Glen Bob work on the roof. She is such a good little helper / talker

I have been working on a sewing project, and so today Shelby wanted to work on her sewing project.  Here she has her fabric and her patterns all ready.

It rained yesterday and we loved it!!  Today is a cool, overcast 68 degrees - wonderful!

Vivian is 10 months!

Yesterday marked 10 months for our sweet Vivian.  She has been sick for a few days and of course, she likes to play with the medicine dropper.

Vivian is doing great crawling, but she definitely prefers for us to hold her hands so that she can walk.  And no, the walker we bought for her is not good enough.  Oh well.  She is starting to eat some food, just little bits here and there.  She weighs 18 pounds and is 27.5 inches long. She has six teeth (four on top and two on bottom).  She still loves her sister and wants to do everything Shelby is doing.  Pretty much everyone that knows us immediately upon seeing Vivian says, "Wow, she looks like her Daddy!  And Shelby looks like her Mommy."

Vivian said her first words on Thursday!  My grandparents were in Ft. Stockton for the night (driving from NM to south TX) so we met them for dinner - had a great time!  Then, of course, we went by Walmart on our way home.  I was on the phone with Josh (he and Shelby in the store, Vivian and I in the van) and when getting off I said, "Bye Bye" to which Vivian said, "Bye Bye"!!!  She said it a couple of times, repeating me.  When Josh and Shelby got back to the van and Vivian repeated Josh saying, "Bye Bye Bye".  Ahhh, sweet times.

We are having a lot of fun with these two girls.  Now...if we can just get them to sleep well at night!

Rain!

A few days last week and weekend were cool here in Sanderson.  Shelby had sooooo much fun playing in the rain last Saturday.

Afterwards we enjoyed some hot chocolate while warming up.

Random pictures

Today we found a lizard in our window!  There is a hole in the screen, so I guess he came in that way, climbed up the screen and is stuck.  We'll see if he is still there tonight.  I am glad there is glass separating us, but he is fun to look at!

Here are some pictures of the girls lately...

 Shelby trying on my boots!

Watching a movie on the way home from church.  She just looked so pretty!

We have had some cooler weather and are enjoying it!  Yes, it will warm back up, but for now we love it!  Hopefully I'll get some videos uploaded soon!

Round 2 - A Go!

We made it!  Yesterday we rode the train to Alpine.  Despite our bad timing last week, the train was on time this week and we enjoyed our trip.

You can see in the background we were passing another train!

We spent most of our time here, in the Lounge Car.  We sat in our seats at the beginning, but only for about five minutes.  We enjoyed walking around (went to the dining car and the Cafe) and the Lounge Car was the neatest place to be with all the open windows and the seats facing outside.

Shelby ate breakfast on the train - she wanted cereal of course.  :)  We sat at a table in the Lounge Car while she ate.

The funniest part about riding a train is watching people trying to walk.  The train is constantly swaying back and forth, especially when going around a curve.  Most people are holding on to dear life as they walk, holding onto anything they can gets their hands on.  We had some good laughs watching people, and I am sure others were laughing with us as we tried to walk.

The scary part was when we were heading to the Lounge Car from our seats for the last time.  Shelby was doing great, but just as the train jostled at the wrong time she went down the flight of stairs.  Luckily Josh was very quick to grab her and only her flip-flop was messed up - on the wrong toe.  :)

We arrived in Alpine around 10am and spent the day going in and out of stores and seeing some friends.  We had a very yummy lunch at Eric's On Holland!  It was a great day!
This picture was taking in the Holland Hotel.  We had our double stroller so we couldn't go through the entire hotel, but we played in the lobby for a bit - it is beautiful!

Thanks to Tammy Ramsey for driving us home!!!

Oh yeah - I had a birthday!  :)  Last Saturday was my birthday and I realized that as a Mommy your birthday is really just another day.  But I did get several cards and presents (Thanks everyone!), received a few phone calls, and Josh made me a yummy dessert.  Excited for this next year!

Vivian is 9 months old!

Our sweet little Vivian is 9 months old today!
She is doing great crawling, pulling up on things, walking in her new walker, and walking while holding Mommy's or Daddy's hands. She is 18 pounds.

This walker doubles as a walk-behind and we think she'll be ready for that soon!

We went swimming a few times last week and had a good time.  Shelby never got off the steps of the pool, but she enjoyed it anyway.  We put Vivian in the floaty and she had a great time kicking in the water.

And this day will be a bit of a sad memory for us, the day we missed the train.  We were planning to ride the Amtrack to Alpine and then have our friends who were going to be in Alpine give us a ride back to Sanderson this afternoon.  So, here's the story: Everything was going great and our train was scheduled to leave at 8:24am! We were down there at 8:15am and waited until 8:45am - no train.  So we called and they said it was running 56 minutes late and it would depart at 9:20am.  We walked back home (HUGE mistake) and basically turned right back around to walk back down.  Just when we were two blocks away, at 9:14am, we heard the whistle blow and thought it was coming into town...but it was gearing up to leave town.  We ran, but it was too late, the train was gone.

We have rescheduled for next week.  Just bummed because it was a perfect day, nice cool weather, etc.  I guess the Lord has other plans for the day.

Who's under that towel?

After a fun morning at church, then a yummy benefit lunch, then swimming at the Truesdell's pool, it was time for a bath.

Apparently (says Shelby), Vivian wasn't done with her bath!  There she went, crawling back into the bathroom after I had set her down in her room.
