We made it! Yesterday we rode the train to Alpine. Despite our bad timing
last week, the train was on time this week and we enjoyed our trip.
You can see in the background we were passing another train!
We spent most of our time here, in the Lounge Car. We sat in our seats at the beginning, but only for about five minutes. We enjoyed walking around (went to the dining car and the Cafe) and the Lounge Car was the neatest place to be with all the open windows and the seats facing outside.
Shelby ate breakfast on the train - she wanted cereal of course. :) We sat at a table in the Lounge Car while she ate.
The funniest part about riding a train is watching people trying to walk. The train is constantly swaying back and forth, especially when going around a curve. Most people are holding on to dear life as they walk, holding onto anything they can gets their hands on. We had some good laughs watching people, and I am sure others were laughing with us as we tried to walk.
The scary part was when we were heading to the Lounge Car from our seats for the last time. Shelby was doing great, but just as the train jostled at the wrong time she went down the flight of stairs. Luckily Josh was very quick to grab her and only her flip-flop was messed up - on the wrong toe. :)
We arrived in Alpine around 10am and spent the day going in and out of stores and seeing some friends. We had a very yummy lunch at Eric's On Holland! It was a great day!
This picture was taking in the
Holland Hotel. We had our double stroller so we couldn't go through the entire hotel, but we played in the lobby for a bit - it is beautiful!
Thanks to Tammy Ramsey for driving us home!!!
Oh yeah - I had a birthday! :) Last Saturday was my birthday and I realized that as a Mommy your birthday is really just another day. But I did get several cards and presents (Thanks everyone!), received a few phone calls, and Josh made me a yummy dessert. Excited for this next year!
