Last weekend we drove up to Chelan to check it out. Beautiful lake and a cute town. We had a picnic and played at a park, but it was pretty chilly so that didn't last too long. Then we got hot cocoa and walked a little through town to see the ice sculptures.
~ Shelby likes to pose and Vivian likes her hot cocoa ~
Aren't we cute?!
There were ducks walking through town; here they were eating the hay in the street.
(Never mind our dusty van dash.)
Yesterday (Saturday) we took the girls to the Mission Ridge ski hill to try skiing for the first time. They did great and they loved it!!! We weren't sure what to expect, so we weren't very well prepared. But we had borrowed a set of boots and skis from a friend for Vivian so she got to go first. (Thanks Florea family!!!) We met some friends up there for the morning. (Thanks Thayer family!!!) Glenn took Vivian up the tow rope and down the bunny hill several times. She had so much fun and she wanted to keep going, over and over again. Glenn also took Shelby up (borrowing Ryan's skis and boots) and Shelby loved it too! (Thanks Ryan!!!) Didn't get any pictures of Shelby skiing.
Josh had Spencer in the pack while Glenn helped our girls.
Jared hung out with me and did great!
We were glad to get above the cloud covered valley. Can you see the low clouds behind me? Wenatchee is in the river valley (below the ski hill) and while it is pretty being surrounded by mountains, it tends to be socked in quite a bit. The sunny ski hill was a nice change and cheered us up a bit.
The conditions weren't great for skiing- it was warm and raining off and on, but we all had a fun time and we are so glad the girls like skiing! Next time we'll have Josh is skis too so he can go with the girls. But for free we can't complain!
Josh had also been up Friday night for night skiing and he was able to make a few runs snowboarding. It was raining Friday night, too, so he came home early. And it was free, so that was nice!
I had a fun night with my MOPs ladies on Friday ~ eating some yummy desserts and playing Hand and Foot ~ though we mostly just chatted. I am so blessed to be part of this MOPs group and to have a table of such wonderful ladies that I can call friends.
Then today the girls got to try ice skating!!! (Only got a pic of Shelby this time.)
Both girls weren't too sure about ice skating, but they both tried it anyway and liked it! I sat in the stands with Jared and my friend Jill with her baby, Anne. Josh took Shelby out first. Vivian watched for quite a while, then mustered up the courage to try it. They both liked it, but we are pretty sure they like skiing better. :) It was a free ice skating night, so the place was packed!
We ended our weekend eating Dusty burgers. Hehe ~ sounds gross, but they were actually yummy! This evening, after ice skating we went to eat at Dusty's In-N-Out with the Thayers and had a crazy fun time (7 kids 6 and under)!
Have a nice week!
